Vyrus 986 M2 Moto2 bike at Misano

Hub-center steering has been around for a while (the concept of it was documented in as early as 1920's) but Vyrus combine that with Omega frame, Fomula 1 car like rear shock and a carbon-fibre monocoque tank and seat unit. Currently, Vyrus and Bimota are only production bikes that feature hub-center steering. Yamaha made GTS1000 in 90's but did not do well.

Everyone falls off of their bikes one point of their riding life. And it will be more often if you race.

Moto2 rider, Raffaele de Rosa won this year’s not wanted title of being the top crasher.

De Rosa rode for Herve Poncharal’s Tech3 Moto2 team this season (and will be with G22 Racing Team in 2011) racked up the record of 22 falls between practices, qualifying and races taking the 1st spot. He is probably well-known for this 2009 save.

2010 marks the first year of very competitive Moto2 class and they have over 40 riders on the grid so that might have contributed the number of crash in the class. Not to mention Shoya Tomizawa, the Japanese rider who won the first Moto2 race but the first one to lose his life in Moto2 as well.

Second place goes to Malaysian Air Asia 125cc rider Zulfahmi Khairuddin who crashed 17 times, and the third place goes to MotoGP rookie Marco Simoncelli with his 13 crashes. Luckily he has been wearing Dainese Airbag suit.

According to the unofficial stats, 825, up 182 from 2009’s 642, with this year’s rainy Estoril slewing up 130 crashes in the entire weekend, but the 2008 GP racing season still holds the record with 876.

It is okay to fall off many times as long as you can git back on the saddle right away. You may damage the bike, but it is only bike. You can replace it with just money.

Count 10 before you do anything...

This is from last weekend at Phillip Island, Australia Moto2 race. Wayne Maxwell was about to be overtaken by Hector Faubel from inside. Maxwell was trying to retake the place by riding around the outside of Faubel, the two riders collided and went down.



With his unsportsmanlike behavior in the gravel trap, Maxwell was black flagged/ disqualified and fined for 5,000 Euro. It ain't worth to lose temper regardless of situation... Almost reminded me of MMA there.

Rise and Fall of Japanese Riders

"Nitro" Noriyuki Haga finally won at Nurburgring Germany SBK, while he was in total slump for long time. Also his team, factory Ducati recently announced that they are pulling out from the SBK race, so he will be unemployed next year; it is a much needed win for him. He raced like he used to... had almost 3 seconds lead to 2nd. While Haga enjoyed his victory, At San Marino, Italy, Moto2 rider, Shoya Tomizawa crashed and hit by following bikes, losing his life.
"The Japanese racer was at Moto2 Race competing at the San Marino Grand Prix today (Sunday.) On lap 12, Tomizawa fell during turn 10 – and lost grip in his rear tire.

This, of course proved to be fatal for Shoya Tomizawa as he was subsequently hit by Scott Redding and Alex de Angelis – and suffered thoracic, cranial, and abdominal trauma.

He wasn’t killed instantly. He was taken to a hospital in Riccione after going to the Grand Prix’s medical center.

The fatal crash made some participants reluctant to compete. As an honor to Shoya Tomizawa, the flags were kept at half mast and there was no champagne at the conclusion of the race." -Adan News
