Suzuki GT750S Vallelunga

Friday, September 2, 2011 | 0 comments

Suzuki GT750S Vallelunga was based on 1973 GT 750 K' model. GT750 was water-cooled 3 cylinder 2 cycle monster, considered as ugly bikes back then but on the other hand, it has some cult like following and they are called "kettle" or "water-buffalo" because of water-cooled fin-less motor looking somewhat like a kettle. Vallelunga was a limited edition created by SAIAD, Suzuki’s Italian importer. Said, less than 200 units were made, and probably as few as 85, just so that the bike could qualify for the 1973 Italian championship races.

Moto Morini Saved-Kinda...

Wednesday, July 20, 2011 | 0 comments

Well, Moto Morini was in trouble and was about to disappear.

Well, they are saved, kinda...
It has new owner. Two Italian entrepreneurs, Sandro Capotosti and Ruggeromassimo Jannuzzelli, who have paid €1.96 million for the Morini brand name, IP and other assets, but not the actual real estate of the company.

The two are at the head of the new company 'Eagle Bike', created for the occasion. Below is a press release.

Eagle Bike's plan is to relaunch the prestigious Italian brand Moto Morini, which boasts more than 80 years of history, and that was the creator of bikes that have been the dream of generations: from daily transport of post-war to the legendary competition bikes

Throughout its history the brand has gained a reputation worldwide for purists and fans, and Eagle Bike has the goal of being able to reproduce with passion and quality production of motorcycles in innovative ways, both domestically and internationally.

I am afraid that they will be just a name for a while. Like Indian or Norton were once, not producing actual bikes...

Death of Moto Morini

Saturday, February 19, 2011 | 0 comments

The final stage of the Moto Morini will be on April 13, 2011 at 13:30 as a form of the auction. All the assets making up the business and brands will be sold off. Just like Buell went through a year ago...
The Moto Morini marque, drawings, blue-prints, all production and assembly equipment, office equipment, furniture, company vehicles, components, engines, parts, accessories, clothing, packaging, exempt from the sale will be the finished bikes, both new and used that have been sold during this last year of voluntary liquidation to pay for some of the company’s debts.

The entire plant is scheduled to be on the auction; the bidding starts at € 5,500,000.00. But if there no offers for the entire lot with the property, bids will start € 2,600 .000,00 which will include two years of free use of the buildings.

Hopefully some rich dude buy this company and put Morini back on its feet. Not ending up like Norton or Indian...
