these are pictures of the paddle steamer Waverley currently the only seagoing paddle ship in operation. she was built in Scotland in 1946. Waverley is 239' 11" long and is powered by a diagonal triple expansion steam engine of 2100ihp capable of driving the little ship at 14kts. in normal operation. during her trials in 1947 Waverley made 18.37kts. at 56rpm. Waverley is owned by the Paddle Steamer Preservation Society and operated by Waverley Excursions. first picture is of Waverley being turned in harbor. next is a picture of her cruising along from astern. third is a picture of the engineroom. fourth a picture of the ship from the starboard side and last the port side. what a beautiful little steamer.
