for armoured ship Thursday this week i have pictured an armoured cruiser from each decade in which they were produced. the first picture is of the Russian General Admiral of the 1870's. she is considered to be the first armoured cruiser in use by any of the world's navys. next we have the British Imperieuse for the 1880's. following this is the Japanese Adzuma for the 1890's. and finally we end with another Russian the Rurik II for the first decade of the 20th century and the last in which armoured cruisers were constructed. the dreadnought style of battle cruiser did them in by being much faster, better armoured and far more powerful gun wise than the armoured cruisers.
