from Louis Marx

these little locomotives are all from the line of electric trains that Louis Marx produced as part of his toy empire. first one is the famous NYC locomotive "Commodore Vanderbilt" next is the popular "999" locomotive. unlike the sheet metal construction of the "Commodore" the "999" has a cast metal body. third is perhaps the nicest locomotive made by Marx the "333". it has six drive wheels unlike the others which all have four. it also has more detailed valve gear which on this specimen needs a little work. it is a beautiful set though with the NYC passenger cars. it also is made of cast metal. fourth are several examples of the "666" locomotive. these are of cast metal and bigger than the "999" but smaller than the "333". last we have another sheet metal or "tin-plate" locomotive the "898". i think one of these was my first electric train locomotive.
