more Admiral Heihachiro Togo

i thought a little more on Admiral Togo would not go amiss today. we have for our first picture one of Togo in 1877 while attending school in England. next is a photo of Admiral Togo and USN Admiral Leutze during Togo's tour of the Brooklyn Naval Dockyard in 1911. third is a statue of Togo which stands before his flagship IJN Mikasa in Yokosuka Dockyard. fourth we have a painting of IJN Mikasa during the Battle of Tsushima and last a picture of Mikasa in Yokosuka Dockyard as she is today. Mikasa was pretty much wrecked by the end of WWII. the allies stripped her of her guns and some equipment. the Russians wanted her destroyed. since she had been a historical ship since the 1920's Mikasa was a totally outmoded warship and of no earthly threat to anyone. US Admiral Nimitz was able to have her guns and equipment given back to the Japanese and ever since she has been preserved in Yokosuka Dockyard the only pre-dreadnought battleship left in the world. as an interesting aside Admiral Togo was responsible for curry being made one of the foods typically served in the Japanese Navy.
