1905 Darracq land speed record holder

Tuesday, October 11, 2011

as long as we are doing old fast cars i thought i would throw in the 1905 Darracq. this amazing old car has a 25.4 liter 90 degree V/8 putting out 200hp. this massive engine drives the car through a cone clutch and a two speed transaxle. it set the record at slightly over 109mph in 1905 and a few years later reached it's top speed of 121 and some odd tenths mph. first is the steering wheel and second the speedometer. third is a picture of one of the overhead valves and a priming cup. next is a picture of the engine itself and finally the magnificent machine in all it's gleaming glory. if i could just once drive something like this i would die happy.
