today we have some real old time racers. first picture is a French Mors racer during the 1903 Paris to Madrid race. next is a picture of what such a race looked like at the starting line. smokey! those old machines had a great thirst for oil but some were pretty fast in any case. third is the gauge board of the Chandler-Curtiss racer from Argentina. using a Chandler chassis and body parts a Curtiss OX-5 V/8 aeroplane engine was transplanted into the car and a racer was made. next is the car itself and finally a shot of the OX-5 running. the car was built in 1918 and regularly won races until 1923.
