i thought since it is sunday i should warship. here is the first vessel in which i served in the USN. this is from Antarctica but could as well be a picture from the Arctic. we often wound up in places like this in the middle of the ice. sometimes if the weather was good we would stop and let half the crew ashore on some island or another and have a beach party. we were issued a case of beer apiece and some steaks. usually we built a big fire to keep warm and cook[also kept mosquitos at a safe distance]and then we'd all get pretty drunk on the beer. next day the other half of the crew would go ashore and do the same. not many bars or clubs in the Arctic.
