today we have the Imperial Chinese Navy armored cruiser King Yuen. King Yuen was built by the Germans for the Chinese. she was launched in 1887. the King Yuen was sunk by the Imperial Japanese Navy at the Battle of the Yalu River in Sept. 17, 1894. King Yuen was 270'4" long and displaced 2900t. the ship was powered by two vertical triple expansion 4cylinder steam engines giving 4400IHP and a top speed of 16kts. her main battery was of two 8" naval rifles and two 5.9" naval rifles plus numerous machine guns and torpedo tubes. her main armor belt was of compound armor 9.5" thick. the first picture is the flag under which King Yuen fought. the next two are of King Yuen and the last is a print of action aboard a Japanese cruiser at the Battle of the Yalu.
