beautiful engines from the USA

here's a few pretty nice looking engines from the past. first here we have an ARDUN ohv hemi-head conversion on a 1939 Ford flat-head block. this design is by the famous later GM engineer Zora Arkus Duntov. next is a beautiful little Miller dohc inline 8 of only 90.2 cu.in. check out the row of 4 Miller 2-throat updraft carburetors. 1926. third is another Ford flathead v/8 from 1937. i'm guessing from the displacement of 136 cu.in. this is a v/8 sixty. it still has some flat-heads on it but they are not the stock ones. they are aluminum high compression heads from Offenhauser. between the heads is a set of Horden fuel injectors. fourth check out the 1951 Chevrolet 216 cu.in. inline 6. it's equipped with a Rajo high compression head and 3 Carter carburetors. look how the center one is plumbed in. plus a set of cast iron headers right underneath the intake. "six in a row will go!" i've saved my favorite one for last. a 1934 Studebaker inline 8. absolutely excellent, what a beauty! a Bonalite high compression head in aluminum and a set of twin Langsenkamp-Linkert carburettors. these pictures are from the Museum of American Speed. these are a sample of what they have. i hope someday i can go see them. google that name and you can see a lot more of this kind of thing.
