a picture of the Dutch steamship Curacao the first vessel to cross the Atlantic under steam all the way. in fact she did 3 round trips altogether. the US steamship Savannah was the first steamship to cross the Atlantic in 1819. the Savannah, however, did not steam but 80hr. out of 29 days in her crossing. she used her sails the rest of the time.
