perhaps the finest expression of the armored cruiser are the Pennsylvania and Tennessee classes of the USN. large, reasonably fast and well armed with 6" secondary and 8" main battery. the Tennessees were upgunned with 10" main battery. these were the USN's last armored cruisers.
