Harley Davidson sales manual

Thursday, April 28, 2011 | 0 comments

I have said many times; I don't hate the bikes, but the company and some of people who ride them annoy shit outta me. Hell for Leather had nice write up about how to sell Harley Davidson and they posted a few pictures from HD's sale-person's test ride manual. The pictures are obviously taken by a cell phone in hurry, suggesting that the photographer was pulling a sort of espionage move. According to Hell for Leather, the images were collected by a member of the Yamaha FZ1 Owner’s Association.

I don't know if you can read them well from these fuzzy pictures, but it sounds like to me that sale people are treating the potential buyers as low-self esteem, weak-minded fool. Well I guess if you have to buy an over-priced and out-performed motorcycle that you don't really need, you must be mentally challenged. It is almost like a trap. I would not be surprised if they plant some good looking chicks on such stores where they stop and tell the potential buyer he looks hot on the bike or something. Well long story short, the manual tells sales people to push images of Harley rider and how the buyer would look cool on it. Not the actual performance of the bikes. It is somewhat predictable from this TV ad

If those bicycles have engines in them, even better though.

Silent Ride

"Four-time trial world champion Adam Raga wanted to make some noise to celebrate International Noise Awareness Day, so he swapped his roaring trial bike for an electric bike -- and rode off to the beautiful Valley of Silence in El Bierzo in northern Spain. Why? Because Adam believes living in peace with nature is something to shout about. He really believes that this is the path that technology must follow; to always try and coexist with the environment."

So quiet, kinda creepy.....

Thinking about bicycles

This monster bike took three months to build and is made from steel tubes, bicycle parts and a tractor tyre. It is the brainchild of Wouter van den Bosch, a Dutch art student and former mechanical engineer, who made the 450kg colossus from parts donated to him from friends and a tractor company.

Honda Collection Hall

Honda Collection Hall is located right at Twin Motegi circuit. It was opened in 1998 to celebrate the company's 50th anniversary. It houses over 350 restored motorcycles, scooters, cars, as well as racing vehicles. When it was opened, those collection actually ran on the circuit and made fan drool and wet themselves. The facility of course contains museum cafe, shop, learning area and for kids, they can actually build their own electric cart and go for a test ride.

Go visit the racing motorcycle area on virtual panoramic tour. You can control the camera but the view will automatically shift slowly like you are drunk. Put some nice music on and browse. The only problem I have with this is that you can't move the location of the camera....

“Products don’t lie. If a product is really good, it will succeed. What did we at Honda intend when we created our products? We should only present what we created. Our products speak the truth about Honda.” Soichiro Honda.
