a picture of the magnificent Burrell 3 speed road engine "Hawkes." built in 1904 as a road haulage engine "Hawkes" uses a single crank compound engine for propulsion. with a trailer behind this is maybe a pre-prototype of today's modern semi-trailer rigs. certainly a lot better looking.
