Basically bunch of characters participate in wild, illegal cross-country race. I believe it's got a motorcycle in the movie, but mostly cars. Even though it was not much of a movie, it spawned squeal. Also, there actually were such races exited. And there might be still there.
As a motorcycle enthusiast, you would wonder if there are any only motorcycle Cannonball runs. Well there are, Scooter Cannonball , and Motorcycle Cannonball Run. It is not gonna be much interesting race if you just ride big capacity sport touring bikes, or endurance crotch rocket racers. So, the Scooter cannonball is limited to 252cc. The other Motorcycle Cannonball? It is kinda hard to enter.... The bike has to be pre-1916. Since 1915 bikes lacked front brake, decent tires, or head light and tail light, you can add, improve or modified that part to be road worthy. You have to use original carbs but allowed spare parts on them. The both race actually put over 3000 miles: scooter one from Vancouver, BC to Portland ME, The vintage bike one from Kitty Hawk, NC to Santa Monica CA.
They put up to 400 miles a day....
I think I would likely to do that scooter one more. That sounds better and fun. I might even wear Captain Chaos mask to race that thing. Would be cool to enter with a vintage Honda scooter, but others are riding high performance Vespa or Piaggio scooters so chance of winning seems slim...
Unfortunately the Scooter race starts TODAY, and the vintage on tomorrow, so you have to wait till next one if you want to enter the races.
