Halt Doggie!

Saturday, April 9, 2011

Our local motorcycle manufacturer, Big Dog Motorcycles is halting its production. To tell you the truth, I am surprised they lasted this long. They make Harley clones and Harley has been sucking balls and Big Dog didn't have big bail out money like Harley did. The owner Sheldon Coleman will start a new business making parts for Big Dog owners and dealers. The Wichita Business Journal, talked to Rick Fairless of Stokers Dallas who confirmed he had a conversation with Coleman who indicated the bank had taken over the company and shut down production for good. Ahahaha.

Whole motorcycle industry has been hit badly by current economical hardship and the market for those custom Harley clones manufactured by Big Dog has been tanking real bad. Coleman's plans to make parts for the bikes doesn't make much sense to me since Big Dog is basically bikes that put together with custom aftermarket parts for Harleys. Do they have to have crank case cover or transmission cover that says Big Dog motorcycle? Unlike grandpa, Sheldon isn't much of business man, I guess. you know he had a band named big dog?
