these engines are all Ford Model T's {177cu.in.}and Model A's{200.5cu.in.}. the Model T was produced from 1908-27 and the Model A from 1928-31. we'll start off with a Model T engine with Roof F-head conversion and follow it with a Rajo OHV head and a Gallivan D.O.H.C. head. keep in mind a Model T had L-head valve configuration to start with and a very low compression ratio. next we have a Model A also normally L-head and low compression with a Roof high compression head in normal L-head guise. last is another Model A engine with a HAL O.H.C. head. all these engines have, as you can see, in addition to the special heads, multiple carburetors, hot ignition systems, exhaust headers and no doubt inside the engines non-stock camshafts and perhaps full pressure oiling systems and balanced crankshafts as well. they would haul ass! i had several Model A's as a youngster and had to make do with a Mallory automatic ignition system a straight pipe and a downdraft carburetor from a Ford six with an electric fuel pump. still it made my 1928 sedan quite a bit faster than stock. i knew of a salvage yard where there was a double carb manifold with carburetors, a high compression head and an exhaust header all made by Winfield. no matter how hard i pleaded with the owner he wouldn't sell. nor would he use them himself, {the selfish swine}they just sat there where i had to see them each time i went to the yard.
