since i know we all love and admire straight 8 engines here are some speedsters with same as powerplants. first is a 1930's Duesenberg with 420cu.in. supercharged engine. these things were good for over 130mph. and they were big and heavy! they accelerated quickly too. next is a Buick engined speedster being built for the Great American Race. 320cu.in. ohv engine. the engine is much newer than the chassis it is mounted in. third we have a 1934 Bugatti type 35-b which is supercharged. fourth is a 1933 Auburn Speedster. these came from the factory this way, very good looking. in fact their looks belied their price which was way below the Duesenberg or the Bugatti. the Auburn was powered with a straight 8 Lycoming engine with L-head valve configuration. and last we have a 1928 Packard Speedster which looks pretty good to me too. it also has an L-head type engine. it may be a six cylinder machine. i couldn't find a picture of it's engine but nevertheless it is a beautiful old car. i must admit to having a soft spot for Packards as i've owned several in the past. if running right they have very smooth running engines and are really excellent highway cars.
