when i was a child these are what made the 4th of July worth waiting for. the awesome cherry bomb and it's no less famous cousin the m-80. these things could raise a trash can high in the air. they would blow up under water. light one put it in a toilet and flush. the plumbing would suffer. a friend of mine did it once in school, the janitor was pissed! another time we threw one in through an open window where the school board was meeting. that was the end of the meeting for that night. they worked really well for shooting out of a catapult too. what fun! probably totally illegal these days. i'm glad i was a child when i was, not nearly as much control as on children nowadays. of course back then if you got caught you got a good thrashing not a time out or a talking to. lots of good times nevertheless.
