Kei Cars

Wednesday, July 14, 2010

lately myself and mr. switchum have been talking about Japanese Kei Cars. these cars are mandated by the Japanese Gov. to be of a certain size physically and a certain size engine wise also. basically this means small, quite small. on the other hand they get really good fuel mileage and actually perform very well indeed considering their limited engine capacity. some are much faster than you would think. some are also diesel and some both gas and diesel are turbocharged. the top one here is my favorite, it is the Nissan Pao. the one below is mr. switchum's favorite. also a Nissan, called the Figaro.
Daihatsu, Honda, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Subaru, Toyota and a couple of others make these little automobiles. for some reason they are not sold in the USA. if they were i would definitely be driving a Pao. and mr. switchum would be able to have a Figaro. used ones are sold in Canada but you kinda have to take whatever is on hand at the moment.
