BMW GS was developed as dual purpose off-road/on-road bike in 1980. The GS refers to either Gelände/Straße (German: off-road/road) or Gelände Sport. They have typical BMW flat boxer engine but have longer travel suspension and larger front wheels for rough roads.
Some seem to hate the GS series...
I like all kinds of bikes. I don't discriminate based on marque of bikes. I might not like it if you have tasteless custom parts and paint job on it. That will be your taste, not the bike.
